PQ 2023 Proposal

The Survivor’s Way

Lost between nightmares and moments of beauty: a child ventures out of a self-created city of digital and analog boxes to look for their missing father. Their journey moves through three generations of family experiences and memories both terrible and magnificent. Weaving fantastical elements with real stories from three generations of the author’s family, The Survivor’s Way shares the evolution regret, identity, and the rebirth of a soul.

The Survivor’s Way is a visually poetic and aurally rich journey through an inner world of someone balancing the hardest and most preciously rare moments that life has to offer. The story and style of The Survivor’s Way is rendered within a heavily mediated real-time digital performance environment.

The core message of the show hopes to be: You don’t get to be 9, 20 or 50 years old without seeing and experiencing things that are intense and traumatic. It is a choice to keeping going and see what is further down the path. This show is ultimately meant to be a reminder to its audiences: there will be rainbows. Each one of them rare and worth finding your way to.

This is a devised work that has been created in context of a devising process based on the RSVP cycles.
