The Survivors’ Way

Lost between nightmares and moments of beauty, the story-teller escapes from a self-created city of digital and analog boxes to seek understanding and forgiveness from his lost father. Together, father, son, and cat journey through three generations of family trauma and memories both terrible and magnificent, including surviving physical and sexual abuse and the horrors of multiple American wars. Weaving fantastical elements with family ephemera and archival material within a heavily mediated, real-time digital performance environment, The Survivors’ Way tells a tale of redemption and offers a path forward for all who walk the survivor's way.

The Survivor’s Way is a visually poetic and aurally rich journey through an inner world of someone balancing the hardest and most preciously rare moments that life has to offer. The story and style of The Survivors’ Way is rendered within a heavily mediated real-time digital performance environment.

An art therapist/licensed mental health counselor and a community engagement specialist are part of the production team, helping foster trauma-informed support and resiliency based in art-making and mindfulness for The Survivors’ Way audiences and community.

The Survivors’ Way is a reminder to its audiences that there will be rainbows.
